AP2617344 Dishwasher Piston & Nut Check Valve REPAIR PART FOR GE, AMANA, HOTPOINT, KENMORE AND MORE

GE Dishwasher Check Valve
This is an easy fix for a leaking GE/Amana/etc dishwasher. What happens is this: The Check valve doesnt seat properly after a few years(or food & debris get jammed in it)Part of the water that's supposed to get pumped out at the end of each cycle actually gets returned to the tub, causing the water level to be too high.. This can cause water to leak out of the bottom of the door. Its easy to get to: remove the long screen at the back/bottom of the tub(1/4 inch nutdriver works for this) Under the screen is the check valve-you can usually just twist it out by hand, or use some pliers. Inspect for distorted rubber on the part that springs up & down. If it looks questionable-replace it-its usually $10-15 for a new one. Congratulations-you just saved a $100 repair bill from the Service Man.
